  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday announced an increase in the repo rate once again due to inflation, which has reached a high level for many years.
  • Now the repo rate has increased by 0.50 percent to 4.90 percent. This is the second consecutive hike in the repo rate in a span of about a month.
  • Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das said that after the June meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee, the repo rate will be increased today.
  • The three-day meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank was going on since Monday and ended today. This was the third meeting of RBI MPC in this financial year.
  • In the meeting, five members of the committee under the leadership of Governor Das discussed the reality of inflation and economic development. In view of the uncontrollable inflation, the members of the committee agreed that at present there is no other option but to increase the repo rate.

  • भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने बुधवार को महंगाई के चलते एक बार फिर रेपो रेट में बढ़ोतरी की घोषणा की, जो कई सालों से ऊंचे स्तर पर पहुंच गई है।
  • अब रेपो रेट 50 फीसदी बढ़कर 4.90 फीसदी हो गया है। करीब एक महीने के अंतराल में रेपो रेट में यह लगातार दूसरी बढ़ोतरी है।
  • रिजर्व बैंक के गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास ने बताया कि मौद्रिक नीति समिति की जून की बैठक के बाद आज रेपो रेट में बढ़ोतरी की जाएगी।
  • रिजर्व बैंक की मौद्रिक नीति समिति की तीन दिवसीय यह बैठक सोमवार से चल रही थी और आज खत्म हो गई। इस वित्तीय वर्ष में आरबीआई एमपीसी की यह तीसरी बैठक थी।
  • बैठक में राज्यपाल दास के नेतृत्व में समिति के पांच सदस्यों ने महंगाई और आर्थिक विकास की हकीकत पर चर्चा की। बेकाबू महंगाई को देखते हुए समिति के सदस्य इस बात पर सहमत हुए कि फिलहाल रेपो रेट बढ़ाने के अलावा और कोई विकल्प नहीं है।
